The holiday season is in full swing, which means it’s time to double-down on your self-care.
Staying healthy amidst the common holiday stressors – shopping, travel, spending time with family, and eating an excess of foods you might not normally consume – are just a few of the stressors we may encounter that challenge our self-care practices…not to mention all the layers you’ve got to take on and off if you live in a cold area of the country!
The good news?
MELTing for just 10 minutes a day can help quiet those stress reflexes and reduce accumulated tension in the body. A quick treatment (such as the Mini Hand or Mini Foot Treatment) will help combat the negative side effects of all that extra sitting done while traveling. And if you have time for it, the Rebalance Sequence will leave you feeling restored, rejuvenated, and ready to conquer the next holiday party.
No matter where you are in the world this holiday season, be sure to take advantage of MELT On Demand, our streaming video site that you allows you to access self-care, anywhere. In the months of November and December, we’re featuring videos tailored to the winter and holiday season.
In November, we released videos that spanned the categories of lifestyle and sports.
Skin Rolling Technique Tutorial
The first of the month’s MELT Monday video features a simple yet profound hands-on self-care technique that we think everyone should learn called Skin Rolling.
Whether you want to reduce the appearance of cellulite or scar tissue, decrease pain, or improve lymphatic flow, this technique is a must-try. Skin Rolling is a manual therapy technique you can use to stimulate the superficial layers of fascia on almost any part of your body – including your thighs, arms, or stomach. It works by manually breaking up the abnormal cross links or adhesions in fascia, restoring fluid flow and mobility.
Do this technique in conjunction with your regular MELT practice for best results.
MELT for Travel
If you’re a frequent traveler like MELT creator Sue Hitzmann, you may have discovered the harsh reality: Long rides in cars, planes, or trains can leave your entire body dehydrated and just generally achy by the time you reach your destination.
That’s why she created, and uses, this MELT for Travel map anytime she’s on the road. This whole-body map will rehydrate your lower body and relieve neck and low back pain quickly. This video features the Seated Compression Sequence, Figure 4, an Upper Body Compression Sequence, and Neck Release Sequence. The best part is, you can do all the moves on the travel-size MELT Performance Roller!
Make sure you sip water frequently when you travel and try this custom map the next time you’re on the road – whether it be for work or pleasure.
Grab & Twist Technique Tutorial
The third MELT Monday video of November features another great hands-on self-care technique that is a great companion to the earlier Skin Rolling Technique. This one is called the Grab and Twist.
This technique creates a hydration effect between the superficial and deep fascial layers and is great for helping minimize the appearance of cellulite, improve circulation, and reduce pain.
It’s particularly good for people who sit for long periods of time. You can do the Grab and Twist anywhere – at home, work, or even while MELTing.
MELT for Snow Sports Hip Stability
December is right around the corner, which means we have officially entered snow sports season! MELT Creator Sue Hitzmann is an avid skier herself, and relies upon her MELT practice to help her hit the slopes without causing pain or injury to my lower body.
Whether you are skiing, snowboarding, or snowshoeing, hip and knee stability are essential. Try the MELT for Snow Sports Hip Stability Map before and after your winter adventures to help rehydrate the connective tissue in your feet and legs, and restore some stability to your pelvis and lower body. This video features the Lower Body Stability Sequence, Seated Compression Sequence, and a challenging move from my MELT Performance program called Clams.
Don’t miss out because your body is achy – start with this map now and enjoy the winter weather!
